The volume addresses current issues and developments of European and Asian constitutionalism in 19 articles pertaining to 12 different constitutional regimes, including the Federal Republic of Germany, including topics like the constitution making and the design of constitutions, the judicialization of politics and constitutional courts, human rights in national law and the constitutionalization of national law by regional human right regimes, different concepts of the rule of law, electoral law, federalism, the majority principle and democracy. Highlighting an interdisciplinary and comparative approach, the book resembles historical accounts, analytical studies, and political assessments by reputed legal and social science scholars including a former judge from the constitutional court/council of Germany.

La campagne pour les élections au Bundestag fut calme, terne, souvent ennuyeuse même. Les controverses pour la plupart assez vives, polarisant les électeurs sur des problèmes importants ou des leaders politiques et qui ont marqué les campagnes dans le passé, ont cette fois disparu. La crise de l’euro aurait pu en fournir le prétexte, mais le SPD (Parti social-démocrate) et les Verts, tout en contestant certains aspects de la politique de la chancelière, l’ont toujours soutenue au Bundestag. Les voix divergentes de Die Linke (La Gauche) et du parti eurosceptique AfD (Alternative für Deutschland) n’étaient guère audibles. Sur d’autres sujets, Angela Merkel a fait siennes, du moins partiellement, les positions de l’opposition. De ce fait, les différences se sont sensiblement affaiblies. Seules les propositions des partis de gauche d’augmenter les impôts ont été discutées avec un peu de passion.
